Volunteer Positions and Swimsuit orders!!
Hi Swim Families!!
Spring is here and we are getting excited about the 2026 summer swim season. Our goal is to provide an experience that builds strong kids and swimmers while creating lasting memories together. Swimmers of all stages find opportunities to build friendships and a love for swimming. As a volunteer run team, we rely on parent involvement to keep everything running smoothly. Each family is expected to fill at least 2 volunteer positions throughout the season or pay the buyout fee of $100 per shift so that we can hire out the unfilled positions. Sign-ups for volunteer positions will go live on our website on April 1. Please read the descriptions below. If you have questions about the best position for you, reach out to us or ask an experienced swim parent for advice. Don't forget that we will need several volunteers for County Meet but won't receive our assigned positions until mid-June.
This year, our goal is to fill all of the *training required* positions early and have all training completed before the first meet. It is usually a very quick online video. If you are a more experienced swim parent, PLEASE consider signing up for the trained positions this year! Those positions are also a great way for a "new to swim" parent to learn a lot, so don't be shy!
- Regular Season Meets:
- Clerk of Course - Works as a team to line up swimmers in their proper event and heats prior to walking them to the start. This is particularly important for the younger swimmers. *Think "herding cats."
- 6U and 7-8 Wranglers: Work specifically with the clerk of course team to ensure these younger age groups are where they need to be!)
- Timers - During regular season meets, timers will use the app Swimmingly on their own phones to stop the clock and record each swimmers' ID number at the end of the race. *You get to sit down with a front row seat and might get a little wet!* (During County Championships, you'll be provided a stopwatch.)
- Order of Finish - Record what place each lane finishes at the end of the race. *Also a front row seat!*
- Heat Winners - Distribute heat winner ribbons to the winner of each heat. *You will be the most popular person on the deck!*
- Hospitality Runners - At our home meets only, we want to make sure all our volunteers from both teams are well-supplied with water and snacks throughout the meet. *Think "Hostess with the Mostest!"*
- Stroke and Turn Judge - Positioned at both ends of the pool, stroke and turn judges observe all swimmers for proper technique and report any infractions to the Meet Referee. *This job does require some prior online training but don't be intimidated - it's not difficult!*
- Starter - Announces each event and starts each heat. *This job does require some prior online training.*
- Referee - Signals the start of each event/heat, monitors the meet, instructs Stroke & Turn Judges, and signs off on any disqualifications during the course of the meet. The Referee's word is final at a meet. *This job also requires some prior online training.*
- Scorekeeper - Works alongside the opposing team's scorekeeper to manages the IPad during the meet, scoring the meet, and entering disqualifications as approved by Meet Referee. *This job does require some prior online training.*
- Events:

- Ribbons and popsicles: Purchase popsicles, provide the receipt to Christie for reimbursement, and help distribute popsicles and ribbons after ALL practice times (4-6:30) that Thursday. Coordinate handing the ribbon box off to a coach at the end of the last practice.
