Eligibility
The ONCC 'Cudas Swim Team is a summer-only (May – June) recreational swim team that competes against other neighborhood, rec, and country club teams in the Williamson County Swim League. Any Old Natchez Country Club member between the ages of 4 - 18 on June 1st is eligible to swim on the team.
We have swimmers of all abilities, but children should be water safe to register. If swimmers are not water safe, the coaches will recommend that they spend the year in lessons to prepare for next year. All swimmers should be able to swim at least half the length of the pool without assistance at the first practice.
Parents of young swimmers, you'll be amazed by what your children learn in the month they are on the team. By the end of the season, most swimmers will be able to swim full 25 meters freestyle and backstroke unassisted without touching the lane lines and/or the walls. By age 7 children will begin learning to breaststroke and butterfly.
Volunteer
Other than the coaches, the team is run 100% by volunteers. Each family is responsible for volunteering to work at least 2 volunteer shifts at our meets and other events throughout the season. Volunteer jobs include lane timers, stroke and turn officials, clerk of course workers, scorekeepers, etc. We have made the signup process for volunteer jobs during the season as easy as possible. Any family who does not meet the minimum volunteer 80 points per season or opt for the buyout, will automatically be charged the buyout fee at the end of the season.
League
The ONCC Cudas swim team is part of the Williamson County Swim League (WCSL). The WCSL is a summer swim league composed of community, subdivision, and country club swim teams in the Williamson, Rutherford, and Maury Counties. Teams compete every week between throughout the month of June. The County Championship meet is held at the end of the season with swimmers competing from each team at the Brentwood Indoor Sports Complex.
The WCSL was formed to create a friendly atmosphere for the benefit and personal satisfaction of our children. The league strives to offer an opportunity for children and young people to challenge themselves, to learn and think in a positive manner, to be part of a team and enjoy the experience of friendly competition and good sportsmanship.
